Tod Heslop

Effective Quality Services, LLC is led by industry veteran Tod Heslop. Tod Heslop is a lead auditor and consultant with over 30 years of experience in quality assurance and management.
He currently performs consulting and auditing for ISO 9001:2015, SQF, and ISO 13485:2016 for his own company, Effective Quality Services, LLC. Tod also spent two years at the world’s #1 certification body (as rated by Quality Digest) where he was the Audit Manager and Scheduler. He is still currently active in working with certification bodies performing internal audits for various food safety and quality standards.
Before his time at the certification body, Tod handled quality issues in the television industry. In the seven years, he was there, he held a variety of job titles, including Production Supervisor, Quality Assurance Technician, Quality Assurance Supervisor, and Supplier Quality Analyst. During this time, Tod gained knowledge of robot programming, robot repair, welding, tool and die, punch pressing, and roll-forming.
Tod was instrumental in the computerization of the production department’s monthly reporting process and implemented new statistical process control software. He was also instrumental in the creation of many policies and procedures – as well as the setup and implementation of new SPC and gage calibration software – for implementation of the company’s ISO 9002:1994 program.
Tod was responsible for the calibration and repair of the entire inventory of gages, with most of the gages calibrated every quarter. He gained technical ability and statistical knowledge with calipers, micrometers, protractors, linear scales, height gauges, optical comparators, and tensile test machines.
Tod also worked in production at Vernay Laboratories, where he operated a molding press and performed finishing work and quality inspections.
Tod has also worked in the food industry where he worked as the packager of oats, oat-related products, and other dry products. Tod aided the Project Manager in the maintenance and installation of food packaging lines. He also spent six years in the restaurant business. He was responsible for the monthly cleaning of conveyor ovens. Tod also was responsible for the weekly preparation of cheese and sausage ingredients. As well as ensuring the quality of the finished product to satisfy the customer.
As a computer engineer for an ammunition distributor. He gained experience in web design and ammunition sales in addition to computer repair. Tod studied computer information systems at Sinclair Community College from 1992-98 and has over three years of computer troubleshooting skills as well as computer networking experience.
In addition to his time at Sinclair Community College, Tod’s educational training includes the ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Training Course. ISO 13485:2016 and SQF, the Microsoft Systems Certified Engineer (MCSE) NT 4.0 Course the Zenger-Miller Supervisor Training Course at Edison Community College, and the Contemporary Leadership Program at Wright State University.
Tod’s hobbies and interests include tennis, fishing, classic cars, and World War II aircraft. He has been a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for 20+ years. He also has a lifelong interest in agriculture. He has worked on farms in Ohio and his grandfather’s ranch in Wyoming. Currently, on his farm where he grows soybeans and corn, and in the past grew alfalfa. He also owns and continues to raise his grandfather’s bloodline of Foundation Appaloosa horses.
